Preparation for CCA fair took place in early November during our December school holidays last year. We have to sacrifice some of our holidays to come back to prepare for the CCA fair for year 2009. We were split into different sectors. There were camp craft, pioneering, display, field cooking.
For the camp craft sector, they had to build gadgets using twines and poles. Gadget built includes a shoe rack. They also build a tent from scratch, they only given a ground sheet, outer sheet, vertical and horizontal poles and some twines. For the camp craft they had to spend long hours under the hot sun and this requires lots of endurance and determination.
Under the pioneering sector, we have to use spars and manila roles to build huge gadgets like a swing and bazooka. These huge gadgets have to be tied tightly so that it is safe for others to play and use. Those require lots of skills to build them. The swing can hold on to the weight of as many as 5 people! This show how strong and durable was our swing.
Display sector include making of posters and banners to promote national police cadet corps.
Field cooking shows an overall of what food we cook during our camps when we only provided with matins, match sticks and fuel.
CCA fair 2009 is a special year as we also include a special performance, fancy drill! Those people in the fancy drills are handpicked and had to go through a series of training sessions to learn the steps, it is definitely not an easy task as it seems.
The actual CCA fair date took place somewhere during February. On the actual day, everything ran smoothly and lots of people said that the fancy drill performance was awesome so our efforts put in was not wasted. We think that the CCA fair was a success and we put in hard work and effort into it. We managed to persuade forty odd people to join National Police Cadet Corps as their CCA. We think that National Police Cadet Corps should be the CCA that many should join, even though we had to endure many hardships, we can learn more lifelong skills from the CCA. We should feel honoured to join National Police Cadet Corps as our CCA. Many feared to join as their CCA as they think this CCA is very demanding however there are many others who joined due to interest and the attractive full uniform.
