NPCC service day!
Farewell night was held on 11 September, 2009, Friday. This event combines all three uniformed groups: National Police Cadet Corps, St. John Ambulance Brigade and Girl Guides. For each individual CCA, we meet at a certain time to get ready for the final rehearsal of the performance that we have prepared for our seniors. We do not want to have any wrong and flaws in it as we wanted the performance to be perfect. After gathering everyone and the in-charges had taken the attendance, we have our delicious dinner at the canteen. We could hear the joy and happiness from the laughter.
After eating, we went up to the hall to begin our farewell night. Secondary 1 NPCC cadets had prepared a skit which is about their normal training. It was interesting as we could hear laughter from everyone.
Next, it was secondary 1 SJAB cadets dancing with the song, Just dance by
Not forgetting secondary 1 girl guides, they sang ‘Last Christmas’ , it was so fantastic that everyone was so engrossed that they started to sing it along. Even though they had not been with the seniors for long, they are still able to be so devoted in their performance.
Secondary 2 NPCC cadets also performed a skit; it is about how they feel about seniors and also their co-coordinator. There are also some commercials which made everyone laughed so hard.
Secondary 2 SJAB cadets danced with all their best, from the songs from High School Musical.
Secondary 2 Girl Guides danced with passion and they were very enthusiastic and it was awesome.
Secondary 3 NPCC cadets prepared a video memento which consists of how they feel about their beloved seniors and many pictures of the seniors. It showed the gratitude for their seniors, which they have been with us, thick and thin for the past 3 years.
Secondary 3 SJAB cadets danced gracefully. Secondary 3 Girl Guides danced swiftly and expressively. For the ending, the three uniformed groups presented a video with lots of different photos of their seniors. It was quite heartwarming. Some of the seniors cried when they saw the messages.
For the last part, the juniors gave gifts that they had prepared for their seniors such as cookies, photo frames as a form of their deep down appreciations. The seniors gave cookies, cards, sweets to all their juniors .The teachers walked over to the seniors and gave them gifts and hoped that they can do well for their GCE ‘O’ and ‘N’ examinations .
Around 10 pm plus, the whole event had ended. Even though it has ended, there were a lot of photos taken for memory sake. It was fun and interesting as everyone, regardless of seniors or juniors, can bond together as one, for the last time. The seniors had actually already graduated during April 2009, Passing Out Parade. Even though our seniors had graduated, they are forever our seniors in our hearts. Once a senior, forever a senior, we shall never forget the laughter and joy that we shared with them and they had teach us a lot of stuffs they knew so that we will not repeat and make the same mistake again.
Some of us stayed overnight, and some of the seniors told us their past experiences. However, since their major examinations are coming, they are unable to talk to us for long as they need to revise for their examinations. But they took a lot of photos within themselves as they want to reminisce this unforgettable night.
That day was on a Friday; our release time on Friday is at 12.30pm. Immediately after school, we went to look for the physical education teacher to get the netball from them to be use for our captain ball game as you might not know that our unit is hosting captain ball game. Some of the others brought vanguard sheets and markers. After that, we rushed to the nearby shopping mall, Rivervale Mall to buy first aid plasters and bandages for the tug of war people. As we had to reach the hosting venue school,
There were many varieties of games that we can choose from, from Sudoku to Captain Ball. We can any one of the games that we were good in or the game that we had the most interest in.
Both Rui Wen and I picked a game called “Pouring water relay”. This name might sounds childish to some but this game requires lots of teamwork effort. The hosting school for this game was
We also send in two teams for Sudoku. One of teams emerged the first! This was a memorable achievement as there were strong competitors from Raffles’
For tug of war event, we faced fierce competition from schools like
During the prize giving ceremony, all the people from the unit was anxious and tensed to know the results. When the emcee announced that our unit got overall champion, high pitch screaming filled the air. Those schools that were sitting near us were covering their ears as our screaming and excitement were considered too much for them to accept. One of the unique characteristics of our unit is our never ending spirit. Other achievements include getting second for “Catch me” game. Although we make a lot of mistakes when we hosted the captain ball game, we find that making mistakes is the only way that we learn; only by learning our mistakes then we can improve and bring the unit to greater heights!
The national day observance ceremony was on 9th August 2009, Saturday. Fourteen of us met our teacher officer at compass point before taking the LRT to farmway station. On our way there we saw schools from our areas like
The national day observance ceremony was held at the open space opposite Anchorvale Community Centre. Before the start of the event, we saw people flying kites and playing rugby. Goodie bags were given out too. There were games stalls too but due to the large number of people queuing up for the games, we decided to give up and check out other things.
We then decided to queue up for cute balloons. They can pick any design they liked, example heart shape, dog, sword and even flower. The scenery there was excellent and brilliant so we took a lot of photographs for memento sake.
By the time we finish taking our photos and queuing up for the balloons, our teacher officer informed us that it was time to wait for the arrival of the guest of honour of the event, Prime Minster Lee Hsien Loong. Prime Minster Lee Hsien Loong arrived in a stylish white colour car. Everyone welcomed him by a few cycles of warm applause. We also stood up as a sign of respect for him. We also took photographs of him walking at the aisle. The national song was played and we sang the national anthem with pride. We also said the pledge proudly too.
We also took group photos with the other schools. This event involved the races for the four different groups, different religious and age group people. This is indeed heartwarming as this proved that
